Heavy winds Tuesday left thousands of people across Western Washington without power Wednesday following a destructive and deadly windstorm that took down several trees and power lines.

While cleaning up storm debris, a Pierce County man was killed by a falling branch Tuesday. The wind did a lot of damage in the area and had knocked out power for a number of homes. The man lived in Vaughn, at the top of Key Peninsula, according to KIRO 7 TV.

The windstorm also knocked over a 200-year-old tree in Ballard, crushing a car.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Puget Sound Energy was reporting 2,200 people without power.

KIRO 7 TV meteorologist Nick Allard says Thursday will bring chilly temperatures to start and some fog before clearing out for a mostly sunny day in the low-60s. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday could see a few showers as well, but temperatures are mostly expected to sit in the low-60s.

KIRO 7 TV contributed to this report.
