No tsunami threat for Washington state after earthquake

The Tsunami Warning Center has concluded there is no threat to the West Coast, including Washington state, after a 7.5 earthquake struck in the North Pacific Ocean on Monday.
The National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning Center also downgraded a tsunami warning for South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula. They’re now under a tsunami advisory.
The earthquake was centered 55 miles southeast of Sand Point, Alaska.

The Anchorage Daily News reports several coastal communities in Alaska were able to feel the earthquake, lasting anywhere between 15 to 45 seconds, according to witness accounts.
A trio of additional aftershock quakes ranging between 5.0 and 5.2 in magnitude were reported shortly after the initial earthquake.
The Daily News says that residents and cannery workers in coastal communities in Alaska “are evacuating to higher ground until we know more.”
