Afternoon commuters are in for a windy, rainy drive home.
Forecasters expect heavy wind to blow in across the Puget Sound region around 3 p.m. KIRO 7’s Nick Allard says we’ll experience some of the strongest gusts – 40 mph – we’ve had in weeks.
Wind gusts are expected to peak late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. They might be strong enough to wake you up. Allard suggests charging your phone and setting a backup alarm because power outages are possible.
Some areas will get an inch or more of rain. Temperatures will hover around 50 degrees.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Thursday. A high surf advisory has been issued on the Washington coast from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday. Swells could be as large as 25 feet.
