University of Washington Police announced a trial for what they’re calling “jetpack-based policing.”
An image tweeted out by the police department on Friday, April 1, shows a view from above — presumably the view an officer wearing a jetpack would have while monitoring crime. Exactly how many officers will be utilizing the technology was not disclosed.

Meanwhile, one Twitter user announced Google’s first “driverless bikes,” which could become an issue for Seattle once they become more widely available. The Seattle City Council recently approved the buyout of the bike-share program Pronto! for $1.4 million. The program has seen lower-than-expected ridership, which some believe is, at least in part, due to the city’s hilly terrain.
Of course, reports from today might not all be true. It is April Fools’ Day after all.
