Firing up the Boeing 757 conversation

Oct 17, 2013, 5:26 AM | Updated: 8:34 am

Boeing hasn’t made a 757 in nearly a decade, but there’s a growing conversation about whether the company should be developing its replacement.

The last 757 rolled out of Renton in 2004, but Boeing has been looking at its possible replacement for more than a year. Airlines are looking for a plane with more seats than the 737 and fewer than the 787.

Boeing’s vice president of marketing Randy Tinseth told KING 5, “We’re always pulsing the market.”

A 757 replacement plan would easily be 10 years away. Boeing has a full plate with the 737 MAX, 777X, and the 787.

“We’re always looking at what we can do, so when we’re ready at some point to make that decision we’ll have everything lined up and ready to go,” Tinseth said.
