The Bellevue School District has pulled police officers from its campuses, sparking outrage among some  parents.

Sammamish High School mom Kristine tells KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson that the district superintendent surprised everyone with the decision. She says parents are angry that their kids are now not protected, and they were not consulted.

Kristine says the superintendent says police can be there in two minutes. But, she asks how many people will die during a school shooting event before officers arrive.

The Bellevue Police Department tells Monson that there have been 6,700 documented interactions with students by school resource officers. Those have led to just one arrest.

The Bellevue Police Department says its school resource officers aren’t there to arrest students. They’re there to make the campus safer.
