Falling houses sounds like something from “The Wizard of Oz,” but such an incident caused significant traffic backups on I-5 Tuesday.

“A semi carrying a house lost the house on the roadway,” said Bart Treece with the Washington Department of Transportation.

All lanes of traffic on SB I-5 near Marysville were blocked for a time as crews tried to clear the roadway.

While a falling house is pretty unusual, Treece says they do see their fair share of diverse items causing traffic delays.

“We’ve seen a lot of things on the roadway. We’ve seen food product and we’ve seen a house. It happens. We’ve got people who deal with this kind of stuff and take it as it comes.”
