Seattle police caution women to be alert after four recent attacks

Feb 12, 2013, 10:15 AM | Updated: 10:20 am

Police in Seattle are investigating four separate reports of women who say they’ve been attacked since Friday.

Seattle police so far have not found any links among the assaults but are investigating the possibility that the incidents are related. The police department is cautioning women to remain alert to their surroundings when they’re walking or jogging.

A woman jogging around Green Lake was grabbed early Monday by a man who tried to pull her into some bushes but she screamed and broke free.

A woman walking near a grocery store on Sunday evening in northwest Seattle says two men in a white van stopped near her and one man tried to shove her into the vehicle. She fought free and the van drove off.

On Monday, a third woman told police she’d been tackled to the ground early Sunday as she left a bar in north Seattle. She says she screamed, punched and kicked and the man ran away.

A fourth woman says she was pulled into bushes and sexually assaulted Friday evening as she walked home from Northgate Mall.

The SPD are directing people to their personal safety tips page, and encouraging women to use these tips to potentially reduce their chances of being a victim.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
