Recount scheduled in Yelm after one vote separates two candidates

The primary election is now certified by each county in Washington, and there will be a recount in Yelm.
King County certifies primary results, field now set for November election
Yelm City Council Position 4 is showing a one vote difference between two of the candidates. A hand recount is required by law if the difference between candidates is fewer than 150 votes or one-quarter of 1%. The total vote difference in Yelm between candidates Steffen Burney and Kayla Russell was one, and the percentage difference was 0.19%.
The recount will determine if Burney or Russell faces Holly Smith in November’s general election. The top two candidates in the primary advance to November’s election.
Recount preparations begin Aug. 19, and the recount will start Friday, Aug. 20 at 9 a.m. The Thurston County Canvassing Board will meet Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. to certify the results.
