The University Bridge in Seattle reopened Sunday after two days of being stuck in the upright position following mechanical issues Friday morning.

The bridge was reopened around 10 a.m. on Sunday to vehicles, pedestrians, and bike riders. The Seattle Department of Transportation said it will remove detour signs in neighborhoods surrounding the bridge.

SDOT posted a photo of the bridge, warning drivers to use alternate routes around 10:30 a.m. Friday. After 9 p.m. on Friday, SDOT tweeted that the University Bridge was stuck in the raised position and was not expected to open that night.

Crews spent all day Saturday working on the bridge. SDOT said Saturday night that engineers were making progress to find the cause of the electric system failure.
