Video diary of murderer Peter Keller to be released

On Thursday, investigators are scheduled to release a portion of a video diary recorded by survivalist and suspected killer Peter Keller, according to a statement released by the King County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday and information from police sources.

Keller, 43, is suspected of killing his wife and daughter at their home in North Bend, Wash., on April 22. He then lit the house on fire and retreated to an elaborate “doomsday” bunker in the remote woods near Rattlesnake Ridge.

Keller had spent eight years building the hideout, and may have been preparing for “the end of the world,” according to statements made in court documents. He kept detailed photo logs and blueprints of the structure on his home computer, crucial evidence that survived the house fire and helped detectives pinpoint Keller’s location.

After a 22-hour standoff at the bunker, Keller shot and killed himself in what was a bizarre and closely-watched investigation.

Now, deputies will release videos that Keller recorded prior to the murders of his wife, 41-year-old Lynnette Keller, and his daughter, 18-year-old Kaylene Keller.

According to a police source, Keller appears to allude to the impending murders while delivering a soliloquy outside his bunker.

In a press release, Sergeant Cindi West said surviving family members are expected to make a statement to the media Thursday when the videos are released. They plan to discuss a scholarship fund which has been established in Kaylene’s name.
