‘Person in crisis’ crashes into Georgetown building, ensuing fire causes nearly $200,000 in damages

Just before 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, a “person in crisis” crashed their vehicle into a commercial building in Georgetown.
The accident ignited a fire, and the driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation has ruled the driver “a person in crisis,” according to Seattle Fire Department Public Information Officer David Cuerpo. Upon crashing, the 35-year-old man was located two blocks away from the building.
That investigation has determined the crash and fire caused approximately $185,000 in damages to the building on the 700 block of South Michigan Avenue just off I-5.
Nobody was inside the burning building, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
