Monday, July 18, a portion of Alaskan Way along the Seattle Waterfront will be reduced to one traffic lane as construction crews finish sidewalks and additional traffic lanes.

The partial closure will begin at 7 p.m. Monday and last until 6 a.m. on July 19.

The Seattle Waterfront Park promenade is currently scheduled for completion by 2024, construction manager with Seattle’s Office of the Waterfront Jessica Murphy tells KIRO Newsradio.

The waterfront project will also include an additional surface street, an elevated bridge from the Pike Place Market to the waterfront, and additional east-west routes to connect downtown with Elliot Bay.

July 19, two lanes in each direction of Alaskan Way south of Union St. will open. One lane in either direction north of Union St. will also become available to the public. The construction project will feature wider sidewalks on east side of Alaskan Way.
