Arrest made after dog dies in extreme heat on balcony

On July 26 a Sedro-Woolley Police Department Code Enforcement Officer received a report of a dog left out on a balcony with no shade or water.

The officer arrived to check on the dog and received further information from neighbors, also concerned.

The officer went to the residence and found the dog in severe distress on the balcony. Officers attempted life-saving measures on the scene.

The dog was rushed to an emergency medical care facility. Unfortunately, the dog succumbed to the exposure and died.

Officers used an infrared thermometer which showed the temperature of the surface of the balcony at 131 degrees.

Officers served a search warrant at the residence and retrieved evidence from the scene.

The person responsible for the dog was taken into custody for 1st degree animal cruelty.

The suspect was booked into jail.

Seattle Police arrest man for attempting to set propane tank on fire

Seattle Police arrested a man July 28 for trying to set a propane tank on fire outside of a Walgreens in Ballard.

At about 7:56 a.m. on July 28, officers were flagged down by the Seattle Fire Department which had responded to a report of a person trying to set propane tanks on fire at 35th Avenue West and Southwest Morgan Street.

According to the report, the man then walked to a nearby apartment building and started damaging windows.

He was detained without incident.

The man was booked on charges of malicious mischief, with possible additional charges for reckless burning.

Bonney Lake Police dispatched to an armed robbery Thursday

Bonney Lake Police were dispatched to an armed robbery Thursday at 8:50am at the Safeway located in the 21300 block of State Route 410.

The suspect took off from the store in a 1990’s red Honda CRV. Police attempted to pull over the vehicle but the suspect didn’t stop.

BPD Officers chased the suspect westbound on SR 410 until officers were able to use a PIT maneuver (pursuit intervention technique) to stop the vehicle SR 410 near SR 167.

Two people were taken into custody in what turned out to be a stolen vehicle from Tacoma.

One officer suffered a minor hand injury, three patrol cars sustained minor damage during the pursuit, the suspects were not injured.

One dead in ‘unusual homicide’ in Shoreline

One person was shot in what police are describing as an unusual homicide after what is believed to be a carjacking.

The King County Sheriff’s Office said the scene is near the 16700 block of Linden Avenue North.

“Here’s what I can tell you. That we received a 911 call — it’s an unusual circumstance here, it’s an unusual homicide and it’s a quiet neighborhood, so I would imagine if you’ve just got neighbors that are in a quiet neighborhood, that helped to prompt the phone call,” Corbett said in an interview with KIRO 7.

Corbett could not confirm any suspect information and said the investigation was in the early stages.
