Police in Bremerton say they have identified a person of interest in two murders and an attack there that have put the small town on edge and had residents fearing that a serial killer is among them.
The Bremerton Police Department announced Tuesday that they have questioned the man who they believe is depicted in a police composite sketch of the suspect, but stressed that “no arrests have been made in any of the three cases.”
Police were able to link the cases together based on where and how the crimes were committed.
“At the time of the attacks, all the victims were walking on the sidewalk in areas with very high vehicle and pedestrian traffic,” said Bremerton Police Lieutenant Peter Fisher. Police believe the suspect followed all three victims and then attacked them from behind.
Sara Burke, 19, was stabbed to death last May and Melody Brannon was killed on Feb. 3. Kenny Cobb, 51, was attacked last June and survived.
In recent days, police increased patrols, posted sketches of their suspect, warned neighbors in the areas of the attacks, and offered a $10,000 reward for tips leading to the apprehension of the killer.
This is a developing story.
