Gee Scott: Come back to the office ‘because I said so’

Amazon workers came back to the office in the new year and many are wondering why.

KIRO Newsradio host Gee Scott said on “Seattle’s Morning News,” it’s “because we say so.”

In a statement on Friday, Amazon said, “We’re excited by the innovation, collaboration and connection that we’ve seen already by our teams being back in person.”

Others like “Seattle Morning News” producer David Burbank said, “not so fast.” There’s benefits to being back for sure, but “why shouldn’t we take avantage of the new technologies?”

“Amazon has been making money hand over fist, so it’s not like they’re struggling for money, to which I say, it reminds me of what it was like growing up as the Gen X generation,” Gee said. “Remember asking your parents, ‘Hey, how come I have to do this?’ And your parents would say, ‘Because I said so.’ That’s how it used to be. And I don’t know how parents do it today, but back in the day, it was because I said so. But right now Amazon because we said so, ‘get back to work. We’re the one who write the checks around here.'”
