An Olympia man who moved to the U.S. from the Philippines as a child, and has a green card, has been detained at the Seattle Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) for days, reported KIRO 7 Monday. The action outraged not only the Filipino community, but also Gee and Ursula.

“I feel bad for this family,” Gee Scott, co-host of “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio, said Tuesday. “I feel bad for the person that’s detained, and I feel bad for his wife.”

According to NBC News, Maximo Londonio was detained after returning from vacation with his family. His family, reported the media outlet, believes the detainment may be due to nonviolent convictions from when Londonio was younger.

Gee had some advice for those with green cards.

“Right now, if you have a green card and you have a conviction on your record, I would give serious pause to travel plans, because right now with this administration, you all are seeing it play out,” Gee said. “All bets are off, even with the green card and married to a citizen, if you think, ‘Hmm, I want to call an immigration lawyer and see what they think,’ just the question alone, should probably have you put on pause for your travel plans. I feel sorry for this person, I really do, but I wish they would have listened to themselves.”

Ursula infuriated after local man detained at Sea-Tac

Ursula Reutin, co-host of “Gee and Ursula,” had a sharp response.

“I find that outrageous,” Ursula said. “I feel sorry for them, too. This is not America. This should not be America. This is where we are today. But I’m sorry, they were here legally. They served their time. They served whatever it was from previous convictions, they are being held as if they are criminals. They have green cards. They are here legally.”
