A 41-year-old woman has been arrested for slashing another woman with a knife at a Lake City encampment Monday, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) reported.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday, SPD officers responded to a reported stabbing in the 17700 block of Lake City Way N.E.

At the scene, SPD officers found a 29-year-old woman who was “bleeding from her left hand with an apparent laceration,” SPD’s report stated.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries by the Seattle Fire Department (SFD). SFD later transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

SPD officers quickly located the suspect, and she was arrested for assault. Officers were also able to recover two knives from the suspect as evidence of the crime.

The suspect had “trace amounts of blood on her right palm and one of her shins,” SPD stated.

Police determined the assault occurred at a nearby encampment along the Thornton Creek Trail.

Officers noted that the circumstances and events leading up to the assault are currently under investigation.

Police attempted to book the suspect into the King County Jail, but she was denied due to a pending medical evaluation at Harborview Medical Center. The suspect was eventually discharged and booked into the King County Jail.

Homicide and assault detectives were assigned to the case.
