Sleeping man stabbed with butcher knife in Seattle, suspect at large

A man sleeping at Westwood Village in Seattle was stabbed with a butcher knife and suffered severe lacerations Monday, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) confirmed.
At approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday, SPD officers were called to report to a scene where a 30-year-old sleeping man was stabbed in the 2600 block of S.W. Barton Street.

According to the SPD report, the man was “bleeding from several severe lacerations to his hands, upper chest, and left leg.”
SPD and the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) delivered medical assistance to the victim. SFD transported the man to Harborview Medical Center. He is in serious condition, as of this reporting.
The victim stated the suspect stabbed him with a butcher knife while he was sleeping. The suspect left the scene before SPD officers arrived.
SPD determined the suspect fled towards Roxhill Park and south on Longfellow Creek Legacy Trail. Deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office assisted SPD in its search for the suspect. A K9 unit was also deployed to track the suspect while other officers set up a security perimeter, but law enforcement was not able to locate the stabbing suspect.
Officers photographed the crime scene and collected available evidence.
