Two suspects were arrested for residential burglary on Oct. 28 after squatting in an Airbnb in Chelan.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to reports of trespassers in the 1900 block of Lakeshore Drive in Manson, CCSO confirmed.

The property owner would use the residence as an Airbnb, and witnessed trespassers on the property while no occupants were scheduled to be there.

Law enforcement contacted the property owner and was advised that the residence was not being used, but was currently up for sale.

Surveillance video captured two suspects on the property, which was later used to identify the vehicle the suspects were using. CCSO deputies went to the property and were let in by the caretaker of the home.

Deputies uncovered that the residence had been broken into, and it appeared that several people had been living in the basement, although no one was inside at the time.

While officers were at the property, the suspect’s vehicle drove by the residence, and officers quickly followed after them.

Deputies caught up with the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The investigation revealed that the two suspects within the vehicle were previously in the house.

Both individuals were detained and identified as Jose Eduardo Ramos-Arellano, 20, of Palisades, WA, and Aida Perez-Ramirez, 19, of Bridgeport, WA.

Jose and Aida admitted to officers that they were inside the residence and were arrested and booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center for residential burglary.

Jose also had outstanding warrants and was additionally charged with driving with a suspended license in the third degree.
