Two people were killed in Puyallup on Thursday after an armed neighbor intervened in a domestic violence dispute and shot the gunman

At approximately 9:10 a.m., the Puyallup Police Department (PPD) responded to the 1200 block of 31st Street N.W., near Stewart Crossing, the department confirmed.

A family dispute began within the Puyallup home and moved outside towards the roadway, where three family members ended up in a neighbor’s driveway and garage.

One adult male family member was armed with a handgun and shot two adult female family members.

A resident was inside the home where the dispute had moved. The neighbor exited his home and intervened in the dispute, shooting the male who had shot both female family members

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (CPFR) responded to the scene to administer medical aid. CPFR later transported one victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

PPD noted that both the shooter and one female victim were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Fire has cleared the scene, and we have two confirmed deceased here on scene, and we have moved to a homicide investigation,” PPD Captain Kevin Gill told KIRO Newsradio.

Gill previously noted that the department believed there were two potential shooters, though the investigation remains in its early stages.

“We don’t believe it’s a murder suicide,” Gill said. “We think we have potentially two different shooters here, and we’re still investigating the circumstances on that.”

Detectives with PPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and detectives from the Metro Cities Crime Response Unit are both on the scene assisting with the investigation.
