The man convicted of shooting a wheelchair-bound Navy veteran last July on Seattle’s Waterfront was sentenced for his crime Friday.

Gregory Timm was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for shooting Harold Powell, who pulled a knife as the two men argued on Pier 55 near Starbucks.

Casey McNerthney, a spokesperson with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, said the bulk of Timm’s sentence comes from the firearm enhancement.

“The assault in the second degree felony conviction on its own is three to nine months, but the firearms enhancement adds 36 months, three years, and so that’s the bulk of the sentence,” McNerthney said.

Timm, who had no criminal history, was found guilty of second-degree assault, a lesser charge than what prosecutors were seeking.

McNerthney said Timm will get credit for time served.
