New video shows murder suspect in laundry room moments before UW student stabbed

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO) released surveillance video Thursday from the laundry room where 31-year-old Christopher Leahy allegedly killed 19-year-old Juniper Blessing on May 10.
The medical examiner said she was stabbed more than 40 times.
Video from the Nordheim Court Apartments laundry room shows Leahy entering behind a young woman as she holds the door for him. They leave, and later in the video, Juniper is seen sitting on the floor.
Leahy then re-enters, looks directly at the camera, and walks out before the video ends.
Prosecutors said he unplugged the camera before the assault.

Investigators said Leahy, a former UW student from Bellevue, called police a few days later and surrendered.
“We’re very relieved. The No. 1 priority is the safety of all the students at the University of Washington,” SPD Detective Eric Muñoz told KIRO Newsradio. “The fact that they were able to do so so quickly is a testament to how hard these detectives worked, how important this case was, and obviously, I think everybody in Seattle, especially on the UW campus, can sleep a little bit safer knowing that justice has been done.”
Leahy has been charged with first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. If convicted, the sentencing range is between 20 and 26.5 years, according to KCPAO spokesperson Casey McNerthney. Leahy’s bail has been set at $10 million.
