‘I’m bullish on Seattle’: Developer unveils plans for 44-story ultra-luxury condo tower in Denny Triangle

As Seattle battles negative headlines and a struggling downtown, one local developer isn’t retreating. He’s going all in.

Architect and real estate developer Kevin Huber told “The John Curley Show” on KIRO Newsradio why he’s betting big on Seattle.

“I am optimistic, and I’m bullish on Seattle,” he said. “There’s a lot of bad news out there, but I just believe that you have to make a stand, plant a flag, and say this is the time for our way up, and that’s what I believe.”

Huber revealed plans for a 44-story ultra-luxury condo tower in the Denny Triangle.

“They’re ultra luxury units, one unit per floor, and only 64 units,” he shared. “There are some units in the lower end that have two per floor, that’s in the lower base, and the base is also made up of a three-story car gallery. That will feature all the spaces for the owners’ Porsches, Maybachs, whatever they like to put in. It’s really geared toward collectors as well as people who love high design. And a beautiful 270-degree view of the city in the mountains.”

Huber added that there will be a lot of bidding for the top floor.

“That’s a three-story sky mansion. It’s in the top of a pyramid-shaped pinnacle, and it’s got an internal stairwell, all of its own amenities, a balcony, and it has a 360-degree view of the entire area,” he said.

‘We need millionaires’: Developer says luxury tower will give the wealthy a reason to stay in Seattle

When asked where the buyers would come from as Washington passed a millionaires’ tax, Huber said the city needs wealthy residents and that he’s making a place for them to stay.

“We need millionaires, we don’t need them to leave,” he said. “This is a place for them to stay, and these are expensive. This is expensive downtown real estate in the Denny Triangle.”

As for why he’s staying local, Huber said he’s weathered multiple downturns in Seattle’s economy and has learned that waiting for conditions to improve means missing the window.

“I just saw the time to do it now, and I feel like there’s too much bad news, and I feel that it’s not warranted for Seattle. It’s too much of a gem,” he said.

Huber said a positive attitude and breaking the cycle of negativity could go a long way to help turn Seattle around.

“That’s really all it takes to quit letting the negative loop go around and around in your head and around social media about how bad things are,” he said. “I mean, if you leave Seattle and if you go to another country, like I’ve been traveling extensively for the last three years, if you go somewhere else, you realize how great this place is, and how well it’s done. I think we’ve just had it so good that it just doesn’t seem as good right now, but it’s not by any means bad.”
