JPMorgan Chase is investing heavily in Seattle’s tech scene, the bank’s Chief Information Officer Lori Beer confirmed during a visit to the city.

While meeting with employees at its Seattle technology center, Beer said the bank is expanding its AI and cybersecurity teams within the Puget Sound region.

“Seattle is uniquely positioned because of the density of the cloud providers here. The density of AI. Some incredible cyber talent and infrastructure talent,” Beer told The Puget Sound Business Journal. “With the teams that we have here, that’s where we can see some of the novel innovation happening around cybersecurity, AI, agents, infrastructure.”

The bank already has approximately 400 workers at the Seattle center, and roughly 2,000 within Washington.

In January, JPMorgan Chase increased its office space in downtown Seattle by more than 40,000 square feet. Since this growth, JPMorgan Chase occupies 128,000 square feet of office space within the Russell Investments Center in downtown Seattle.

The building, located at 1301 Second Ave, was renamed the JPMorgan Chase Center earlier this year.

This office space can hold up to 850 employees. Ture Armas leads JPMorgan Chase’s Seattle tech center after Mamtha Banerjee stepped down in March.

According to The Puget Sound Business Journal, JPMorgan has $5 trillion in assets and holds the second-highest market share in Washington at 14.5%.

JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the U.S., landing an evaluation of $1 trillion earlier this month — the first bank to ever do so.
