Neighborhood Café in Tukwila opened in 2023, and quickly earned a following for its coffee and matcha flights, milk teas, and hearty breakfast and brunch plates, ranging from house-made pork longanisa and crispy lumpia to ube pancakes. Its popularity led to an airport expansion, making it easy to enjoy the café’s drinks and pastries on the go.

Since then, it continued to grow, introducing a pastry program that brings playful, Filipino-inspired flavors to treats like Rice Krispies, doughnuts, and other baked goods.

“We’re trying to introduce flavors people might not be familiar with, but in forms they already love,” said Maxwell Heigh, founder and owner. “It’s similar to how we approach our drinks — we have your vanilla lattes and caramel macchiatos, but also things like ube lattes.”

At the airport, pastries are available seven days a week, while the Tukwila location maintains a more limited selection.

“Since debuting our bakery offerings, we’re actually working on a pizza concept as well. Pizza dough just makes sense as the next step,” he said.
