The Olympia Tumwater Foundation is updating the existing building in Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls and turning it into the History & Nature Center.

The newly renovated space will have exhibits and classrooms for year-round gatherings, learning and school programs, and public events, according to a press release.

“The center represents an investment in the future of our community,” Todd Cutts, executive director of the Olympia Tumwater Foundation, said in the release. “People are naturally drawn to Tumwater Falls because of its beauty. Our vision is to create a place where visitors can also discover why this landscape matters — its ecology, its history, and the generations of people who have shaped and cared for it.”

The project also marks a collaboration between the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Hatchery, which will help provide some educational materials that will coincide with salmon biology and watershed stewardship.

Construction is expected to begin sometime in early 2027.

The foundation is currently accepting donations for the center. Learn more about giving opportunities here.
