All lanes on I-5 north have reopened after they were blocked due to a car fire caused by a crash involving two semitrucks and three cars.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts stated on X that even though some of the vehicles were totally engulfed in flames, there were only minor injuries.

The lanes were blocked in south Tacoma at S. 72nd St., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

Traffic was backed up to SR 512. Drivers were being diverted to the 72nd Street off-ramp, according to Watts.

“Expect delays on your Friday evening commute,” Watts stated.

The road was closed for around one hour.
