The third annual Seattle Space Week this fall will focus on the theme of “Scaling the Space Economy,” according to Space Northwest, Washington’s association dedicated exclusively to the space industry.

Seattle Space Week, set for Sept. 28-Oct. 4, will include events at locations throughout the greater Seattle area. Open to the entire space community, early registration is available at the event’s website. The week includes events from Space Northwest and several industry-focused organizations.

The space industry generates an estimated $4.6 billion in direct economic output annually in the state, with a total statewide impact exceeding $7 billion when including supply-chain and workforce effects, with the greater Seattle area home to most of the estimated 100 space-related companies.

Seattle Space Week opens with a kickoff event the evening of Sept. 28, when industry representatives, suppliers, vendors, and lawmakers are invited to attend to help kick off the week.

Space Northwest’s Space Symposium is scheduled Sept. 29 at the Federal Way Performing Arts Center and will feature panel discussions, fireside chats, networking, live music, and additional programming. Highlights include a keynote address by Rob Meyerson, former president of Kent-based Blue Origin and co-founder and CEO of Seattle-based Interlune, and a fireside chat with Tim Beard, chief financial officer of Tukwila-based Stoke Space.

The full schedule is at the Seattle Space Week website.

“Washington has the companies, talent, and technical capabilities to play an even greater role in the global space economy,” Kelly Maloney, co-founder and board chair of Space Northwest, said in a news release. “Seattle Space Week brings together the people shaping that growth, creating opportunities to build partnerships, strengthen the supply chain and elevate the Pacific Northwest’s space industry on the national and global stages.”

Seattle Space Week events will be held from Kent and Federal Way to downtown Seattle throughout the week, convening industry leaders, founders, technologists, and the people building what comes next, Space Northwest said.
