In a calm weather pattern with plenty of sunshine, increasing smoke and haze will be the weather story Monday.

Northerly and northeasterly winds aloft will push wildfire smoke into the region.

We’ll start with some patchy low clouds or fog, then turn mostly sunny.

The smoke will be thickest higher up, but some of it will mix down to the surface, especially in the Foothills and east of I-5. That could lead to some air quality impacts, so we’ll keep a close eye on conditions through the day.

Temperatures will warm a few degrees Monday, with highs in the mid to upper 70s around Seattle and north, and the low to mid-80s south of the city.

Haze and smoke will stick around Tuesday as well, with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s and some lower 90s possible.

The pattern changes Wednesday as onshore wind returns, bringing more widespread morning clouds, cooler temperatures and gradually improving air quality.

Thursday will turn cloudier as a weak system moves through, with a few showers possible and perhaps an isolated thunderstorm, mainly along the Coast and in the Mountains.

We’ll stay mostly cloudy Friday with a few sprinkles, followed by a few showers Saturday and cooler temperatures in the low 70s. Sunday looks drier with more sunshine.
