The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating after a person was found dead in a grassy area along I-5 near the entrance to the express lanes from Seneca in Seattle on Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 pm, a 911 caller reported the person appeared to be sleeping.

“Troopers arrived and determined the subject was not conscious and had no pulse,” WSP stated in a news release Tuesday. “CPR was started, but unfortunately it was determined that they were already deceased.”

The medical examiner determined the person died due to a fall from the overpass. However, WSP said it is possible the person was also hit by a vehicle after the fall.

WSP detectives are asking anyone who may have seen anything in the area between Aug. 22 and Aug. 23 to come forward to help with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to email WSP Detective John Ford at John.Ford@wsp.wa.gov.
