Prosecutors alleged Karl George Allman, 42, looked beneath a restroom stall partition at a woman inside the women’s restroom at Seattle University’s Lemieux Library on Oct. 15.
According to court filings, a witness reported seeing a shirtless man lying on the bathroom floor and looking under the partition toward an occupied stall. Security detained the suspect, and Seattle police later arrested him. Allman is charged with first-degree voyeurism.
“What prosecutors showed in court documents is that this is a flagrant invasion of these women’s privacy in a bathroom. And prosecutors argued that there is a real danger to the community,” Casey McNerthney, a spokesperson for the King County Prosecutor’s Office, said.
Prosecutors cite community risk in Seattle University voyeurism case
Prosecutors requested $75,000 bail, which the court granted, arguing that Allman poses a risk to the community. They are also seeking a sexual assault protection order for the alleged victim, no-contact orders involving a witness and Seattle University, and electronic home detention if he posts bail.
The filings cite prior convictions and a history of warrants. They also refer to more recent criminal cases that were dismissed after findings of incompetency.
Allman is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 27 in King County Superior Court.
