Light snow showers reported in King County

Dec 13, 2016, 9:45 AM | Updated: 9:55 am

Light snow continues to fall throughout the Puget Sound region.

Snow was reported in Shoreline around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, with flurries still being reported in Everett.

The National Weather Service said standalone snow showers in Snohomish County were reported around 6 a.m. The showers were expected to dissipate by 8 a.m. with little accumulation.

Meanwhile, north Puget Sound communities continue to see snow-related closures.

Whatcom County is still dealing with the snow and ice that forced school closures on Monday. Several districts closed Tuesday as well.

Check school closings

The flurries in Snohomish and King counties may not be the last we see of the snow this week either. The Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement that takes effect Wednesday for Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.

According to the statement, a storm system could bring what is currently being called light snow into the region Wednesday afternoon and evening. The system will move east Wednesday night and Thursday.
