More than 22,000 Seattle City Light customers were without power for unknown reasons Monday afternoon.
At about 1:45 p.m., the outage map showed mass outages in Fremont, Phinney Ridge and Ballard. At about 3:50 p.m., City Light said crews had restored power to more than 12,000 residents in north Seattle. As of 4:45 p.m. almost all of the power was returned. Seattle City Light had originally estimated that power would return by 6 p.m. City Light tweeted just before 4 p.m. that they were still investigating the cause of the outage.
Thanks to our crews for their hard work in restoring power to the majority of customers in North Seattle. We appreciate your patience!

This is the second major outage this month in Seattle. City Light identified that problem as an equipment failure at the University of Washington substation.
We will pass along more information as it becomes available.
