The aftermath continues from a weekend car crash that resulted in downed power lines and forced the closure of I-5 in North Seattle for more than two hours.

Seattle City Light plans to do rolling slowdowns Wednesday night on both directions of I-5 between State Route 520 and Mountlake Terrace, from midnight to 4 a.m., in order to repair the damaged power lines.

Traffic may be stopped for up to 25 minutes at a time between 520 and NE 205th Street as crews pull power lines across the highway.

The intermittent closures could last up to three nights.

The crash that led to these closures occurred just after 8 a.m. on Saturday when a driver lost control of his vehicle at Fifth Avenue Northeast and Northeast 125th Street, near the Pinehurst neighborhood. Power lines fell onto I-5 as a result of the crash, which damaged a guy-line and snapped a power pole in half.

About 2,200 customers lost power for hours after the crash and at least two vehicles traveling on I-5 at the time were damaged.

Seattle City Light is reportedly charging the driver’s insurance company for damage and repairs.
