At the conclusion of his first month on the job as host on “CBS This Morning” Charlie Rose seems happy with his latest career opportunity.

“This is beyond my dreams,” said Rose in an appearance on 97.3 KIRO FM’s Ross and Burbank Show.

Rose began hosting the new CBS morning show in early January along with co-hosts Gayle King, and Erica Hill. The team greets viewers from a circular glass table in a new studio constructed at CBS’ New York headquarters.

With a strong tradition in long-form journalism, 97.3 KIRO FM host Dave Ross asked Rose how he made the decision to move to a morning show.

“Did you have qualms, as a serious interviewer, having to go to a show where you have to do your share of celebrity fluff?” asked Ross.

“I looked at the offer when they came to me carefully. What we had achieved in conversations on public television were important to me,” said Rose. “I was confident that whatever reputation that I had would not be stained or challenged.”

While the set colors and morning show material will likely breed a little more lightness, he says he doesn’t expect he’ll do everything typical of the genre.

“I don’t think you’ll see me doing cooking segments.”

But Rose seems grateful for the new position, saying it’s allowing him to “do something else I’ve always wanted to do, which is speak to a different audience.”

“I had no idea that I would come to New York. That I would do my own show, which is a dream to sit there every night for an hour on public television, now seen round the world on Bloomberg. And that CBS where I would be asked first to do […] 60 Minutes II, then asked to be a contributed for 60 Minutes, then when they came to me to do this, I thought, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
