He was 7 years old during the summer of 1969 when the announcement was made that the Seattle Pilots would begin playing ball.

An excited Dori Monson couldn’t wait to listen to Seattle’s first major league team play ball on the radio in his tree house.

“It was a magical time,” Dori said.

But that time quickly came to an end.

After spring training, the Pilots began making their way not to Seattle, but to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Emerald City lost its baseball team.

Dori was heartbroken.

Now Dori is seeking revenge, of sorts. Knowing what heartbreak feels like after losing the SuperSonics, he wouldn’t want to steal any city’s professional sports team. But he will make an exception for Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Bucks are threatening to move to Seattle or Las Vegas if they don’t get a new arena. The team has been pushing for a new place to play basketball since NBA commissioner Adam Silver said it needs to be replaced.

“I don’t like the idea of stealing other cities’ teams,” Dori said. “But if we are, it should be the Bucks.”
