Crash that jammed NB I-5 into Seattle for hours finally clear

Oct 10, 2017, 5:43 AM | Updated: 9:11 am

The crash that caused hours of traffic delays on northbound I-5 in Sea-Tac on Tuesday morning finally began to clear before 9 a.m.

Drivers on northbound I-5 experienced long delays due to an overturned truck that crashed before the majority of drivers hit the road. The drive from Tacoma to Seattle took about two hours at the worst point, according to KIRO Radio traffic reporter Chris Sullivan.

The crash near South 200th Street spilled debris on the road. The truck was also leaking diesel — about 100 gallons in all — which was contained before 7 a.m., according to Washington State Trooper Rick Johnson.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the truck was carrying furniture when it crashed.

Traffic backed up more than eight miles.
