Inflation is hitting home in an unexpected place. A new survey finds the “tooth fairy” is paying out 15 percent more than last year.
The survey by credit card company Visa says the average price is now $3 per tooth.
“You’re shelling out three bucks for what?” asks an incredulous David Boze. “Back in my day, it was maybe a quarter, 75 cents if you were really, really lucky got some grandparents involved, the fairy had a collection plate going or something,” Boze says.
Visa even has an online calculator and app to help determine the going rate in your state. For example, it says a parent in Washington should give $1.00
Producer Sarah Mackay says the going rate in her house is $5 to $8 depending on her kid’s age. For guest co-host Steven Kilbreath, it’s six coins regardless of value.
