Brenden Rajah, 28, is currently a volunteer coach, but was formerly the school’s athletic director. KIRO 7 reports that he coached volleyball. Police arrested Rajah on Feb. 1 after obtaining evidence on electronic devices. That evidence allegedly shows he secretly took video of female students while they privately changed clothes.
According to the police department, two juvenile students discovered video files on the athletic department’s tablet. Those video files showed female students changing into basketball uniforms. The students were secretly, individually, recorded in the coach’s office after they were asked to try on basketball uniforms. Police say that Rajah can be seen on the video setting up the tablet to record — he recorded himself placing the device in the room, adjusting the video angle, etc.
Detectives have searched Rajah’s Kirkland home. The coach was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The investigation into the incident continues, but Rajah has been booked into King County Jail for voyeurism in the first degree — a felony.
Puget Sound Adventist Academy released a statement to KIRO 7:
Puget Sound Adventist Academy is focused on helping our students move forward in dealing with a betrayal of trust this week.
School officials are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation of two videos found on a school iPad of athletes trying on uniforms. The coach, who was questioned and arrested by Kirkland Police Department, has no further connection with the school.
Safety in all forms is important to Puget Sound Adventist Academy. We actively work to nurture, guide, and protect students spiritually, academically, physically, and socially.
