Jeremy Lin’s new digs: W New York Downtown Hotel

It’s not exactly like moving from the outhouse to the penthouse – but it’s close.

Jeremy Lin, the Harvard University graduate who has returned the New York Knicks to the talk of The Big Apple after years of uninspired play, recently signed a contract to rent a furnished apartment on the 38th floor of the residences at the W New York Downtown Hotel.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the two-bedroom apartment came with “a celebrity discount” and was originally listed for rent at $13,000 a month.

Lin, who had been sleeping on his brother’s couch and uncertain of his basketball future, broke in the Knicks’ starting lineup just three weeks ago and has led the team to an impressive record since then.

The downtown unit was considered an “upgrade” from Lin’s original choice – a two-bedroom apartment in suburban White Plains owned by former Knick David Lee.

The W apartment was one of more than 20 Lin viewed comes with a large sculpture in the glass-walled living room, original art on the walls, pots and pans in the cabinets and views out to the Statue of Liberty and the memorial pools at the World Trade Center.

The 1,182 square-foot unit was listed for sale at $2.3 million and under contract to an investor who agreed to rent the unit to Lin.
