All lanes have reopened on northbound I-5 in DuPont after a semi-truck slammed into a barrier and spilled fuel.

The crash happened at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday. According to Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) officials, approximately 100 gallons of diesel leaked onto the roadway. A tow truck arrived at the scene and removed the crashed semi-truck.

“While we were working to reopen all lanes, crews were able to separate the double trailers from the semi-truck,” WSDOT stated on X. “While the trailers were moved out of the way (see previous pic), the truck was pushed over into the closed median. It’ll be removed.”

No injuries were reported in the incident. The driver of the semi-truck, a 42-year-old man from Ferndale, has been charged with second-degree negligent driving, but no charges were filed related to DUI.
