All lanes are now open after I-5 north was shut down at Southcenter due to a shooting on the freeway, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reported on X Friday. However, the backup is about six miles.

A person was hit in the leg from inside their car, according to WSP Trooper Rick Johnson.
“Detectives will determine how this happened,” Johnson wrote on X. “There is no danger to the public or any other suspects or vehicles involved.”
The Washington State Department of Transportation captured the traffic scene on X.
