Icy roads cause jackknifed semi truck, WB I-90 closure near Easton

Travelers heading west on I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass are facing delays Friday morning after the highway was closed at milepost 70, about 20 miles east of the summit near Easton, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
The westbound closure comes separately from the earlier eastbound closure near North Bend, where multiple spinouts and collisions also caused delays. In the westbound incident, WSDOT shared a photo on X, showing a semi-truck jackknifed, blocking lanes and prompting the full closure.

Officials said icy road conditions contributed to the crash and are warning drivers to avoid the area if possible. WSDOT crews are on site to clear the semi and treat the roadway, but no timeline for reopening has been announced.
Motorists are advised to check road conditions and travel alerts before heading toward the pass, as both eastbound and westbound lanes are currently impacted at different locations.
