September brings changes to the Kitsap Fast Ferry Service

Beginning Tuesday, the Kitsap Fast Ferry Service will return to its pre-pandemic schedule, eliminating 14 daily sailings between Bremerton and Seattle.
In 2022, Washington State granted the fast ferry service extra funds for additional sailings to help alleviate pressure from the Washington State Ferries, which reduced sailings during the pandemic. These additional funds were never intended to be long-term, according to Kitsap Transit News.
In 2025, Kitsap Transit received an additional $2.9 million to continue the extra sailings through the FIFA World Cup. These funds were scheduled to run out on Aug. 31. Without these funds, the fast ferry service is forced to scale back, resulting in fewer sailings between Bremerton and Seattle beginning Tuesday.
It is important to note that these canceled sailings will introduce more passengers to the Washington State Ferries, and passengers should plan ahead for added volumes on the Seattle/Bremerton route.
