Across the United States, law enforcement agencies are coordinating a speed enforcement initiative along I-90 from July 20 to July 27.

Agencies from Washington to Massachusetts will focus on reducing excessive speeds and improving traffic safety along I-90.

National I-90 patrols crack down on speeders

Throughout the enforcement period, drivers along I-90 should expect increased patrols from law enforcement, most notably in western Washington.

The Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) reported that in 2024, 34% of all traffic fatalities in Washington included speed as a contributing factor, according to KIRO 7.

“Our goal is simple: to save lives,” Chief John Batiste of the Washington State Patrol said. “Excessive speed remains one of the leading causes of serious injury and fatal crashes.”

In order to enhance safety across one of the nation’s busiest highways, travelers are being encouraged to stay alert and drive responsibly.

“By collaborating across state lines, we send a strong, unified message: safety has no borders,” WTSC Director Shelly Baldwin said.
