Five people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound I-5 just north of S. 188th Street, exit 152, early Monday morning.

All northbound lanes were closed just after 1 a.m., reopening at approximately 5:30 a.m. Traffic was backed up by as much as three miles during the closure.

One driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into another before three more vehicles piled into the collision. The driver who caused the crash was not injured and has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.

One driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center, and three others, one driver and two passengers, were transported to Valley Medical Center. Another driver involved in the collision sustained injuries and received medical aid at the scene. Four people inside the fifth vehicle involved were not injured.

According to KIRO Newsradio Traffic, one reason for the delay in reopening the lanes was due to a “ton of debris” lying across all the northbound lanes after the multi-vehicle collision.
