The railroad crossing arms in downtown Puyallup are stuck in the down position.
Puyallup police reported the incident around 2:20 p.m. Friday.
Officials said BNSF Railway is aware of the issue and has a crew on the way.
“We know it is extremely frustrating, especially on a Friday afternoon, and certainly isn’t helping traffic through downtown,” the police department wrote.
Drivers are urged to use alternate routes and to avoid the downtown railroad crossing if possible.
“Thank you for your patience while BNSF works to get the crossings reopened,” officials stated.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
