Southbound I-5 in Tacoma will be down to one lane tonight

Heads up if you are driving in the south end tonight. This isn’t a typical weekend closure, so it might surprise you. Southbound I-5 will be slow Thursday night through Tacoma.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said I-5 Southbound will be down to one lane, as crews repair a bridge expansion joint near the State Route 16 exit.
They’ll start work about 9 p.m. The goal is to have things open back up by 5 a.m. on Friday.
