A train and vehicle collision near the Edmonds ferry terminal suspended the Edmonds and Kingston route for nearly one hour on Tuesday.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced that the train accident occurred at the railroad crossing near the Edmonds terminal, and that the crossing was completely blocked temporarily.

At 12:59 p.m., WSDOT announced that the ferry vessels had returned to service for a late Edmonds to Kingston departure at 12:40 p.m., and a 12:45 p.m. Kingston to Edmonds departure.

WSDOT previously posted to social media at 12:12 p.m., estimating services would not be restored for at least one hour. However, ferry services were fully functional in approximately 40 minutes.

WSDOT has provided a real-time map of each ferry route with updated delays, departures, and arrivals.
